Homemade Soaps vs. Commercial Soaps

Our homemade herbal soaps are just SOAP, in the purest form of the word. Soaps purpose is to break the surface tentions of water to allow the soap to clean our skin of dirt and other impurities.

Commericially made soaps are actually DETERGENTS, and not soaps. A detergent is used to remove dirt and oils from our skin. Leaving our skin feeling dry and itchy because our natural moisture has been removed.

Our soaps are a combination of soap and glycerin in the finished product. Glycerin is naturally found in homemade soaps because it is a byproduct of the soaping process. Glycerin attracts moisture and traps it keeping skin moistured and soft. Glycerin make the soaps last longer and is gentler to our skin.

Commercial soaps are a combination of detergents, preservatives and NO glycerin, unless otherwise stated on the package. The reason for all the detergents and preservatives is because you never know how long a commercial bar has been on the shelf and because they don't bother with creating blends of oils that will lather, but instead opt to use detergents for that purpose. Think about it. Why would you want to use something that strips the oils and moisture from your skin the way detergents do when all we really want to do is get the dirt and grime off our skin? Why don't we find glycerin in commercial soaps, unless otherwise stated on package? Because it has been extracted for use in other areas.

Our soaps are made with pure vegetable and nut oils and not animal fats. We don't use animal fats because the skin needs to "breathe" and vegetable and nut oils allow thus to happen. If our skin doesn't "breathe" it is not able to expel toxins and waste.

Commercial soaps are made with a majority of animal fats listed as Sodium Tallowate. Tallow (Sodium Tallowate) for instance, is highly saturated and has been shown to clog pores, causing blackheads and eczema to form in more sensitive individuals.

Our soaps are scented with pure Aromatherapy grade ESSENTIAL OILS. Essential oils come from plants and are the essence of the plant, the scent of the plant. Essential oils have been used for centuries for their healing properties and benefits to health and our skin.

Commercially made soaps are scented with FRAGRANCE OILS. Fragrance oils are synthetically made scents which have been proven to be the cause of many allergies and skin irritations in many people. Fragrance oils are widely used because they are cheap to buy.

Our soaps are colored with ONLY natural ingredients. We use herbs and spices to create all the colors found in all our products. Also making our soaps healthier for you and your skin.

Commercial soaps are regularly colored with dyes. Anything listed as FD&C or FOOD GRADE COLORANTS is a synthetically made dye. Something that was created in the lab. Dyes are used because they are cheap and easy to work with.
